Where are all my #TeamNaturalHair ladies at? This post is dedicated to you and all of your friends.

I get a lot a questions about my hair. More so now, about a year and 4 months into my Natural Hair Journey. Some questions come straight out of left field while the others are literally based off of curiosity and the urge to want to know more. So I’m going to dig into some of the things that cross my path.

#1. What is natural hair? Natural hair: whose texture hasn’t been altered by chemical straighteners, texturizers or relaxers. It’s literally the hair that grows straight out of my scalp! Pretty simple, and I’m not exactly sure why the concept is difficult for some to grasp. Having your hair colored is sometimes considered natural and sometimes it is not. Some may argue that the chemicals in hair coloring actually alters the hair texture. At the end of the day, it’s completely up to each individual to do what they will with their hair. Love color???… then get color. Razzle Dazzle that!

#2. GRAVITY DEFYING!  I like to think that people have the urge to want to touch my hair because at times it does seem as though it is magical. All those law of gravity lovers can sit down for a bit. My hair can do some tricks! For the most part, if I have a great blow out (hair dryer miracle worker) and my hair is placed in a position when manipulated…. it literally can stay in that same spot for a while. Lucky for me, I don’t have uber fine hair that will fall back down to my shoulders. My hair is much thicker and can create some rather stunning hair styles. +2 points for cool hair!

#3. Shrinkage…. what in the world is that? Well folks like I mentioned before. The hair on my scalp literally grows with a super tight curl pattern. Once my hair gets wet… those curls coil back up. I like to call it a cute baby afro… since it coils up A LOT!

#4. Why did I go natural???- I decided to go Natural months before actually doing my big chop. I mentally prepared myself to realize that a chemical free scalp from relaxers is what I wanted. Truly thinking about all those harsh chemicals literally stripping my hair of it’s natural state and into a wavy hot mess was enough for me to convince my sisters to join me! YEP, I mentioned in an earlier post about how my sisters also chopped their hair off. Needless to say, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my hair! ;)

#5. What are FroBands? OMG OMG OMG, so If you haven’t checked the site out yet, go visit www.yofrobands.com! They are these super cute headbands that I came up with and designed. The fun thing about styling my hair is my freedom to go wild and try new things. I realized I loved wearing headbands and wanted headbands that had a thick enough band to protect my edges. YOFRO stands for…. wait for it… wait for it….. {YOUR OWN FRO, ROCK OUT!} So darlings please… purchase yours today. Support small businesses and rock your headbands with style and grace! :) Make Momma YoFroBands Proud! ;)
